Just for Men - Why Oral Health is About More Than Your Smile

Studies show that most men take their oral health for granted. They are less likely to brush, floss, or see the dentist regularly. This results in men being more likely to experience:

·        Dental emergencies

·        Infections

·        Periodontal (gum) disease

·        Serious dental issues

·        Higher dental expenses

Gum disease and other infections in your mouth feed bacteria into your bloodstream, allowing them to travel throughout your body. They also contribute to chronic inflammation, which has been linked to many dangerous diseases like diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, autoimmune conditions and many more.

Men who don’t take care of their oral health experience higher rates of:

·        Heart disease

·        Diabetes

·        Chronic illness

·        Systemic inflammation

·        Mouth and throat cancers

·        Erectile dysfunction

We know that visiting the dentist may not be your favorite thing to do, especially if you have had a bad experience in the past or feel embarrassed about the condition of your mouth. We want you to know that our office is a no judgement zone and our goal is to ensure you feel comfortable, cared about, and confident in our ability to take great care of you.

We also know that getting started on a new, healthy path can be challenging, so here are a few tips.

1.     Call us at (714) 633-2562 to schedule an appointment now if you have any dental concerns or have not seen a dentist within the last 6 months.

2.     Try habit stacking to help you be consistent with self-care around brushing and flossing. This means linking your new habits to ones you already do. You may want to start brushing or flossing while you are showering or link them to bedtime or your last meal of the day. Studies show that this can make starting new habits much easier.

3.     Never leave the dental office without having your next appointment scheduled. This ensures you will stay on your recommended schedule for maintaining your oral health.

We encourage all of you men to not be shy and give us a call.

We promise to take great care of you!
